Isn't it fun?! We don't have to be very artistic really when we have such lovely kits to work with. We just persevere to learn the programme we use so we can get the various bits on the page, and it's great when it comes together nicely. This one has come out really well. And (although it's not a large view) your mum certainly doesn't look 87!!

Robin, I am addicted to this kit! I love this website!! Thx for all your compliments. It helps to see things thru other people's eyes. I am not sure how to size these. When I do full size (8 1/2x11) it won't go thru. I've been doing the layouts in PrintMaster 17, then copying them to Paint Shop XI. I don't know what dimensions to put in the resize box. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Love,
spartica/Marilyn

Hi Marilyn ~ I don't know if I can help at all. I use PSP7 and all (or most) of my layouts are square. I don't have this kit but I think it is probably square - ie, 12x12. That means that when you try to have it fit a rectangular shape, such as 11-1/2x8, then it will be stretched vertically. Does that make sense? The embellishments will be fine, it's just the base background that will be stretched. Plain backgrounds will be fine but anything with a pattern will distort.
When you create them in PrintMaster, do they look okay? When you copy them into PSP, how do they look? Is it just when you resize? If so, check your settings in the Resize window. Again, I don't know PSP XI but in PSP7 in the Resize window, there're are a couple of tick boxes at the bottom - Resize all layers, and Maintain aspect ratio. Make sure they're ticked so that the proportions are locked. Try resizing using the percentage rather than the pixels, or make sure both width & height in pixels are the same.
If you're resizing elements, you need to untick the Resize all layers so that just the layer with the element is resized.
If you're wanting to do 8-1/2x11 layouts, then you might have to get background papers in those dimensions, otherwise plain papers will be fine.
Hope this hasn't mucked you up! There will be someone who will be able to help and if this doesn't, we'll think of something else - okay?

... thought I was writing too much up there!
I wanted to add that I like this site too. It's nice to get a personal note back from time to time. I'm not quite sure who is who but the SgD Store Admin user is extremely helpful and writes nice notes. I'm thinking that might be Norma? as there are the same pictures at the bottom of each message. Anyway, it IS a lovely site. I'm coming here a bit more now as some of the others are sooo busy on their message boards & galleries that I just can't keep up!
Oh, I'm wondering why you are copying into PSP. You'd lose the layers, wouldn't you? Can you not resize in PrintMaster? Heck! I've gone on enough, haven't I?

Not at all, Robin! I do lose the layers, but get the same look. I like the 8 1/2 X 11 layout as I can't print the 12x12 layout. I print out my 8 1/2 x 11 layouts and then layer them on 12x12 papers and sometimes further embellish. Works out beautifully! Most of the time I don't add photos when I put together on the puter, I like the layered feel of adding the actual photos.
Thank you for your advice though. I will look into it!
Love,
spartica

Yes. It is me... I'm the store admin and the site owner (Norma) :-). I'm just camera shy, so I rather call myself the store admin. I love to help other people with their digital scrapbooking questions, because I know that once they learned the basic... they will take off and preserve their memories from then on! I also want to say that Tanya is very helpful and dedicated to the challenges. All of her challenges are her own ideas and I am really happy that she is with us. I wouldn't be able to keep up with everything!

Regarding re-sizing your layouts, I would recommend
1. Cropping the 12x12 background paper first to 8 1/2x11
2. Then start creating your layout.
Cropping is different than resizing. Resizing does not "cut" your papers, instead it enlarge it. Cropping "cuts" your papers to the dimmension that you specify -removing the unwanted portions.
To Crop your 12x12 background papers, I found these tutorials on the web using paint shop:
http://www.corel.com/servlet/Satelli.../1157730510511
http://graphicssoft.about.com/od/dig...blpsp_prep.htm
Once your background paper is resize to 8 1/2x11, you can add your elements and you will not need to resize the layout. It will be ready for print!

Oh, Norma, thank you! I will definately try that idea! The question though is how to get it to the correct size to post after I have designed my layout.
Love,
Marilyn

Do you mean after you already created your 8 x10 @ 300 dpi layout?
I think at that point, you can just resize it for the gallery by changing the dpi from 300 to 72 and the dimensions to 480x600 or to 400x500.
Here is my 8x10 layout, you can see the dimmension in the layout description.
