When you have your file open in GIMP, go to Image-->Scale Image. There you can change the physical size of your page, and you can change the dpi, too. I usually change to 600 x 600 and 72dpi for the web, or whatever is allowed on the website. Once you change things, be sure to "save as" so you don't write over your nice big page. Then save it as a .jpg, too, so you can upload it to the web. HTH! ~Jen

thank you -- it is rather a simple LO. It was for the AD Challenge at Digitals. But I thought it would be a good one to start with....

I noticed a boo boo in the tutorial... Always start your LO with a clean new template. Don't work on your background paper (a terrible habit to get into!). Then you don't need to 'open' the files, just click on the file name and drag into your LO. A bonus to this is that it will automatically name your layer with the filename.

it took me a few tries to get the hang of scrapping with GIMP. Now, I open it up and go. I have done a lot with it and I am still learning how to use it and how to do things!!!

What file format are you using? What compression are you using? Jpg will give you the smallest file size. You may need to increase your compression when you save as a jpg, after you hit save a box will pop up with a slider. Set it to 85 but you might be able to get away with as low as 50 without losing too much quality. Files that you want to print save between 85 and 100. HTH [85 will give you the the most significant reduction of file size with the least loss in quality; mathematically that is]

Thanks for your quick reply : it is a jpg format. But I think I did save at 100 . Do I have to change it to 85?
