Version question for Mac

I am running version 2.4.5 for the Mac and it doesn't look like many of the tutorials. Is there a newer version? I can't seem to find one. I am going thru the tutorial on shawdows and it says to go to the Script-fu menu to select shadow,,, my version doesn't have a Script-fu menu. Are the Windows and Mac versions different?

Welcome to SgD!

The tutorials on this site were created using the GIMp 2.2 version. A few things changed between version 2.2 and 2.4 and one of those things was the shadow tool.

The shadow tool is now found under:
Filters-> Light and Shadow -> Drop Shadow

All of the other steps for the shadow tutorial should still be the same.

Hi there! I'm a Mac user as well using 2.4.3. I didn't know that there was a newer version! I can tell you that to find the script-fu menu, you need to go to the Xtns menu and go down to script-fu.

Can you tell me where you downloaded the new version? I'd like to see if there are any differences.

The GIMP Org, says that GIMP 2.5 is not stable. But it might still work for you.
