Default Re: GIMP Tutorial: How to use a photoshop template

I am brand new to digital scrapbooking and GIMP. Thanks so much for the tutorials! I have been working with a template for at least an hour, and I cannot figure out how to edit the text. I keep getting a new text box with the text on the template still there. Also, there seems to be way more layers than necessary. Some parts have what appears to be 3 layers of the exact same thing. I deleted some parts and I see no noticeable difference (it's SgD #39). Right now my major concern is how to maniplualte the text.
Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.
Thanks!
Andrea

Unhappy Re: GIMP Tutorial: How to use a photoshop template

Ok I am getting slightly frustrated. I am trying to figure out how to use .psd templates in Gimp. I tried to follow the tutorial on here and it did not help. I want to add images as background paper and embellishments for the template. I go to paste the new layer in and make it a official layer it overwrites the previous layer I added. Say I have a image as a background paper. I then want to use another image on a different layer to color in a element on that one. When I move the newly created one with the .jpg file I want to use, down till it is just above the .psd file layer I want it to fill. It overwrites the background layer. And so forth for any other layers that I am trying to use images to fill. I am not sure if I am explaining it very well.
