Use the feature Save for the Web, resize to 600x600 and play with quality until the size is just under 200K. That should do the trick!

thanks Maria, I read your message after I posted. I did 400 x 400, but I'll try 600 x 600 next time :-)

Consider either flattening or convert to 8 bit colour depth which will maintain layers and support millions of colors".

You then have 3 buttons to choose from "Convert Depth", "flatten" or "Cancel", when I chose convert the word art was perfect, when I chose flatten, I got the grey background.

Hope that helps, oh and I really like your layout.

Hi Sue, I have PSE 6 too. Perhaps that's where I went wrong. Everything is so new I often get pop-up boxes and make a guess as to which option to click. I'll start again, it sounds like I'll be successful with it if I look out for that pop up box. Thanks for you help Sue, much appreciated. Hopefully I'll have my very first piece of creativity in the gallery very soon :-)

Months down the line and I have some spare time and am having another attempt. Maria's suggestion of resizing the embellishment to 600 by 600 worked. Just wondering about the technical side of things....why does resizing it work?

Here's my second attempt at using staple embellishments where I had to 'erase' the white background using Maria's method.
