I'm pretty new to Photoshop Elements and as you can see, my elements "BFF" and "SMILE" are still showing a grey background. Please can anyone explain how to get the elements to sit on the brown background without showing that grey? |

Mhhh.... I think you went the extra-mile to get it like that....
Can you explain which steps you did? Maybe in one of those steps, you selected the "smile" layer and click/selected "flatten image", instead of doing it on the background layer... ??? I do not have photoshop elements, that is why my comments are vague. |

)The steps I took were to open the background page, open the word elements and photo, drag these into position on the background (each element as a separate layer) and then drag to resize the words. I don't think I flattened the image since I have an option to do that when I right click on each layer. There are a couple of pages made with the same kit over on the Gallery (SgD Product Gallery) with no grey background behind the words 'smile' so it is possible, I just don't know how to do it. Tina |

Hi there.
I use PSE 6. Not sure what you are using, but I just had a go at this template. When I went to add the word art (BFF), I had a pop up box appear that said: "This document contains 16 bit layers which are not supported in PSE. Consider either flattening or convert to 8 bit colour depth which will maintain layers and support millions of colors". You then have 3 buttons to choose from "Convert Depth", "flatten" or "Cancel", when I chose convert the word art was perfect, when I chose flatten, I got the grey background. Hope that helps, oh and I really like your layout. Sue

hi Sue, thanks for the message, I'll take a look. Unfortunately I am still stuck with a grey background despite choosing 'convert'. Perhaps the step I took next is wrong. I have the background page and the BFF showing in the Project Bin. I have the background page open and I am dragging BFF onto the background page, resizing and then clicking the green tick to accept. Is this how you did it? Tina |

I think I've done it! It seems if I drag from the project bin it doesn't work, but if I have both windows open next to each other and drag that works! Oh happy day! :-) Thanks for bearing with me ![]() |

I was just about to say that to you. I never use the bin, always seems to cause me problems. You did exactly what I would have done. Good for you for working it out.
Hugs, Sue
