Default rounded edges or frame

I have this saved. But, now I want to make the images and possibly the text in them rounded or framed. I tried select then rounded rectangles. But, it just rounds the backgroung for the whole image and not the selection within. Is there a simple way to do this?

I tried to upload it inphotobucket but couldn't. Hope you can see what you need to. Thanks!

sorry your attachment is too small, so have diffulty in seeing what you mean. In the mean time select the layer you want to perform the rounded edges on, now right mouse click the layer in the layers doc and look for "alpha to selection" and select it. Now go back to your rectangle select with rounded edges, hopefully that will do the trick.

I ended up downloading a frame and making layers with it around the pics. But, it may be useful to know how to do what you are explaining for later. I got it to put dotted moving lines around the layer I want. How do I get it to be applied to it (saved)?
