twinsmom email me with this question and although I am planning to post my own response, I know that there are actually different ways on how this can be done.
Do you know how to create a seamless patterns paper using The GIMP? If any of our GIMP Scrappers can share any tips, that would be great! ![]() Last edited by SgD DESIGNS : 08-08-2008 at 12:25 AM. |

make seamsless doesn't work on all things though, only on things with space around it, or simple textures like grunges and such. It unfortunately doesn't work on things like checks and such.
I've never been fussy on some of the other patterns so it was a bit of a dissapointment to me when I found that. I had seen an example with strawberries and it just didn't do what it said it would.. I was hoping it would crop the sides perfectly, so I'm still stuck lining it up by hand.. pretty tedious. |

I found a photo of some cardboard for my next project. It is a 600x600 photo, though. I was wondering if this tutorial would help with making it seamless, or at least fairly seamless????

You should just try it out - (my thought anyway) - and get back here with the results??? ;-)

I will try it out tomorrow night at work when I can have more time!! I will let you all know my results, though. I found several cool photos of different cardboard that I think I am going to try to use to make some elements. I think it just might work!!!

I tend to find that the seamless filter doesn't work well with that sort of stuff if it fills your whole square. It just ends up overlaying 4 other copies slightly shifted from the original creating a blurry mess.
Basically what the filter does when you add and image is add a copy of the image equally spaced in each of the four corners of the file. It doesn't hurt to play with it though, because it really teaches you how it works and what can be done with it. |
