Default Update on DH - :(

Well, his reg dr was wrong. He was still having chest pains & always after exertion (working out, going up stairs, etc.) He never had it after he ate.

After 2 wks, he called his reg dr back to tell him, only to find out his dr is out for a week on vacation & was told to give it another week. The office didn't refer him to somebody to see that day. I had him call my dr's office. He got in that day. That dr said it sounded more cardiac that GI, so she scheduled him to see a cardiologist next week (which was for July 1st).

Friday, July 1st came - he saw the cardiologist. the dr said that even though the stress test looked good & so did the echocardiogram, he says sounds like a blockage & wants to do a cardio catherization to get a better look. He scheduled my dh for the next business day, which was Tuesday, July 5th (after the holiday).

Tuesday, we go to the Catherization Lab at the main hospital. The procedure is where they insert a catherter (sp?) in the large artery in the groin area & go up to the heart, inject dye to see if it'll flow through or be stopped by a blockage. turns out one of the major arties to my dh's heart was 95% blocked. So the dr put a stent in.

My dh is now officially diagnosed w/coronary heart disease at age 43.

We're in shock & he's home recovering now. We are glad that they finally found something & fixed it, so hopefully he won't be having any more pain.

I know - what if listened to his reg dr & waited. And his dr scheduled him for an upper GI that was yesterday. He probably would have ran a bunch of tests looking for something stomach/esophagus related. And maybe when all those came back negative, would he have then looked into the heart area??? How long would we have waited? Would he have had a heart attack in the mean time? It's scary to think that. At least my dh listened to me for this ONE!.
