Ummmmmm how do I use the texting feature?
All I got was a small box with lines-- when I attempted to use the arrows as per instructions-- my program stalled and I lost everything as I had to to use the shift-alt-delete to exit the program. I had my texting set to 18 -- so I should have seen something???? What did I do wrong???? Thanks for your time Butterflyiii2006 |

not sure what version of GIMP you are on, or what text tutorial/instruction you were using. Also make sure that the new text layer is not below another element layer or Paper background layer as it would be hidden by it. So if you can see the text layer you have created in the layers dock, then simply move it up the layer stack to show itself. Hopefully that was clear enough.

Oh Goodness,
I do apologize-- I didn't give you enough info from my first desperate plea-- I'm so sorry..... Ok I have version gimp -2.6.6-i686-setup and the tut that I was following was Gimp Tut: Creating Your First Digital ScrapBook Layaout-- I was doing fine until I got to Adding Text to your Layout.... I made it to the Text tool options menu and my puter stalled completely- soooo I am playing with it again-- I had read a post saying I needed to maybe download font-- is that true? Because I didn't do that-- so that very well could be the problem...... Thank you for your response. Butterflyiii2006 |

I haven't upgraded yet to 2.6.6 yet, still on 2.6.2 not that it should matter. My GIMP is running under windows and neither should that. I would have thought even if you hadn't downloaded any fonts yet, the standard windows fonts are available by default. How about you do another simple test, create a new LO, bottom layer your paper background, with just a text layer above the paper background layer. Lets try and keep it simple to see if this still crashes your GIMP (but hopefully NOT!)
