Default GIMP - changing text box shape?

Hi everyone,

I have a question about text boxes in GIMP. The text box tool allows us to make all sorts of rectangular shapes to bound our text inside, but I would really love to be able to have a text box whose shape is, for instance, a circle, that bounds my normal text (i.e., the text fills in the middle of the shape - not text along a circle). So, I don't want to distort my text, I just want to be able to place normal text, with normal lines, inside a shape, and have it not be a rectangle in every case. I have such cute journaling blocks in the shapes of hearts, circles, flowers, etc., and I'd love to "fill" them with text.

Is this possible in GIMP? Or is this something I would have to use paths for - i.e., draw a path for every line of text, and use the beginning and ending of the path as a way to make the "boundaries."

Any thoughts? Surely there's a script out there, but I can't seem to find it. Most people seem more interested in distorting text rather than just fitting it into a shape that's not a rectangle.

Cheers,
Heather
