In Gimp you will want to try a high pass filter if you have it.. otherwise use the sharpen mask.
Also remember to click on (bi)cubic sharpener when you resize and do a step resizer if you change size...

You were looking at the patterns... they are all scaled for 75 dpi though, so they are inadequate for scrapbooking, and it ends up really making the repeat obvious and look like little squares...

I've never used them but Viovio does 12x12 books at reasonable prices. There are lots of others, but some are pretty expensive.
I do both paper and digi so it makes more sense for me to print...
